first entry...

ok, so, my good friend brentavius falconia has insisted that i give this live journal a shot...well, here goes.

in recent news, for those of you who have yet to find out that my family and i are moving back to the good ol' cary EN SEA, we are... After a two year stint in the the burbs of milwaukee, my mom put the "kabosh" on living through another sub-zero winter season and being a decade behind the fashion curve (apparently, that's the word on the street). So, my dad has since moved back to NC where he awaits the sale of our brookfield, WI home in hopes to purchase one down here by the summer's end. I however am in Virginia for the next 4.667 days finishing up my inorganic chemistry research internship at the god-forsaken virginia military institute....

my job consists of spending 9 hours a day in a chemical laboratory setting where i set up, conduct, follow-up, and draw conclusions from any number of reactions. welcome to the land of chemically-induced euphoria...drugs? no....the buzz im talking about arises from balanced equations, stoichiometry, and coordination complexes you only dreamed of synthesizing when you were a kid. my research involves using organic compounds to chelate with rare earth metals in an attempt to create metal organic frameworks...from what i've gathered these cage-like networks could be used in catalysis, ion exchange processes, & gaseous molecule storage. no i'm not talking about what happens in your stomach after that bi-weekly trip to taco bell, more like hydrogen storage for next-gen cars and the like...enough about work, i am ready to get back to NC and away from lexington virginia.

Right now i think its about 10:30 pm (dont worry i refuse to use this military jargon associated with vmi) and i'm here in the lab pondering what i am going to put on this next presentation slide for work. So far, ive had a rather eventful weekend here in the backhills of virginia. Friday night i took a wicked nap, followed by one heck of a run-in with conan o'brien (have i ever mentioned i love that guy?). Saturday consisted of an early-morning 6 egg omelet, a 2 hour lawn mowing, trimming, edging, and the like, making my usual chicken breast marinated in balsamic vinaigrette on the grill paired with a generous helping of fresh cucumber, tomatoe, and vidalia salad, and followed up with a trip to the lexington drive in movie theatre which was quickly terminated as a result of overcrowding...sunday is just a blur of working out and something else...i think laguna beach viewing? ahh, whichever... wow, if you guys are still reading this blather, allow me to apologize... this may be more of a stream of consciousness than a journal, per se.

i guess i had better get back cracking on this presentation though... im totally stoked though i just ordered my bow ties today and can not wait to get 'em via FEDEX...mmm mmm bow ties...at any rate, ill be in cary this coming friday on so if anyone is up for some golf...frisbee or the real stuff let me know...ive been itching to play as i dont get many chances to play up in these parts...

That was an adventurous first entry, a good song to have listened to while writing it would have been scatterbrained by radiohead. Keep em comin' broseph.
